The only way to refresh is to restart the game from the selection on the ps4, not the ingame restart. I deliberately save, then turn off the game and restart. For instance the running jumpping technic is altered, thus one can goes as far per jump. The problem I've had is, after two or three hours of playing, there is sooooo much data been saved it slows down ones abilities when using the controler. It is less noticable now then it was in the earily days. As one flies above a new planet their exploring, one can view the generation process. And unless one is still actively involved with a planet or solar system, all records of accomplishment like name changes, will be gone in 6 months. The same goes for when you leave a solar system and go to another. Hence the purpose of having to leave markers. Unless one has left a significant change like a base, or a marker, everything on planet will regenerate upon your return. Though one has the ability to go anywhere, it doesn't generate until you actualy get there. The star screen one can view is no different that an interactive screen saver basicly, none of the stars actually exist until you interact with it. The entire universe does not generate onto your device, only the area that your in. Unless one leaves a permenent marker, everything on planet changes upon a return to said planet. Might still wait til after 2.2 drops, though, just to save downloading it separately. There is no purpose to generate the ENTIRE universe on ones device when they are only going to be in or on one planet or solar system at a time. 8.5GB or so is still a little big to download but if I hold off on anything big I should be right to get it in a few days or so. I'd actually forgotten that the launcher kept stuff separate like that. Do not edit this file without making a backup first.
#Elite dangerous download size update
Soon there is going to be a update to 2.2 (beta going final) and the update might or might not be of size because it has a lot of improvements client side. The mentioned file is located in your game installation folder under: Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64 (it might be either in your Program files or under the steamapps folder).

Steam forces the install of every version you purchased (except beta because steam doesn't sell or control the installation of beta, frontier does) so through steam it installs both 32 and 64 bit versions thus the 17GBish install. If you install the 64 Bit Elite Dangerous you'll be able to play all 64BIT versions (horizons if you have the expansion)īETA versions have separate installs altogether and it has frequent updates that vary in size.Įach one (32 / 64 / beta) has a 8.5ish (at least last time i checked) footprint.
#Elite dangerous download size 32 bit
If you install the 32 Bit Elite Dangerous you can only play the 32 bit version If you use the launcher for the game you have these options:Įlite Dangerous Horizons (only if you own horizons)Įlite Dangerous Horizons - Guardians BETA Įlite Dangerous - Passangers BETA Steam forces the complete package installation.

I also didn't realise the new update was that close - I knew it'd been in beta for a while (still subscribed to the ED newsletter) but wasn't sure when it was actually dropping.

We've already used it once this year, though, and we'd rather leave the second one til November at the earliest. And, twice a year, we can get an extra 200GB added to the month for free. I've no idea if my ISP or any others offer better deals in our area but it does mean I have to manage my internet usage a bit.įortunately, we don't pay extra if we go over that cap we just get throttled back to dial-up speeds. Thats realy cheap if you love puters and games ,wow Biggest contributor is that I'm in Australia (the land of lethal-yet-adorable wildlife and overpriced internet) and the plan is a combination internet-and-landline-phone plan. wow realy ?im baffeld ?realy do players realy use ,sush internet wow ? ,im im ,ermm Originally posted by Shadow88:Anyone know how big a download the game is for a fresh install? Thinking of finally re-installing this but we have something of a prohibitive data cap (200GB of downloads and uploads per-month) so I'm trying to decide whether to do it this month or leave it til next.
